Species Description
**Description:** A forest hare named for its oversized, furry hind feet. Famous for seasonal camouflage: brown in summer and pure white in winter.
**Size & Weight:** 16–20 inches long. Weighs 2–4 lbs.
**Sexual Dimorphism:** Females are often slightly larger than males.
**Life Cycle:** Population famously cycles every 10 years. Fur color change is triggered by day length (photoperiod).
**Habitat:** Thickest brush and young conifer stands at higher elevations of the plateau.
**Behavior:** Capable of running up to 30 mph and leaping 10 feet in a single bound.
