Species Description
**Description:** Tiny, wingless creatures capable of leaping great distances using a specialized tail-like structure called a furcula.
**Size:** Microscopic (1–3 mm).
**Identification:** Commonly called "Snow Fleas." They are often seen by the thousands on top of melting snow on warm winter days.
**Behavior:** Defense mechanism involves "popping" into the air to escape predators. They feed on decaying organic matter and fungal spores.
**Habitat:** Leaf litter and soil throughout the forest.
