**Description:** A slender, long-legged shorebird with a slightly drooping bill; in breeding plumage, they are heavily barred underneath.
**Size & Weight:** 8–9 inches long. Weighs 1.4–2.3 oz.
**Identification:** Their long legs give them a "stilted" appearance while wading.
**Behavior:** Feeds by probing the mud with a rhythmic, sewing-machine-like motion.
**Habitat:** Shallow pools and marshy wetlands; a rare but regular migrant in the ANF region.
