Species Description
**Description:** Massive, fast-growing riverfront trees with distinctive "camouflage" bark that peels to reveal white patches.
**Size:** Reaches heights of 100+ feet with the largest trunk diameters in the East.
**Sexual Dimorphism:** Monoecious; produces separate male and female flower clusters on the same branch.
**Conservation:** Common along major river corridors.
**Habitat:** Almost exclusively found along the banks of the Allegheny and Clarion Rivers.
**Behavior:** Ghostly white upper branches stand out starkly against the winter sky.
