**Description:** A large, dark scavenger with a featherless red head and a distinctive "V" shaped profile while soaring.
**Size & Weight:** 25–32 inches long with a wingspan up to 6 feet. Weighs 2–4 lbs.
**Identification:** Look for silver-gray trailing edges on the wings and a constant, "teetering" motion while in flight.
**Behavior:** Possesses an incredible sense of smell to locate carrion hidden beneath the canopy. Acts as the forest "clean-up crew."
**Habitat:** Ubiquitous across the plateau; often seen near Kinzua Dam.
