Species Description

**Description:** A common woodland flower with five-petaled pink blossoms that fade to lavender as they age.
**Size:** 1 to 2 feet tall.
**Behavior:** Seed pods are shaped like a long crane's beak and "explode" when ripe to launch seeds several feet away.
**Identification:** Features deeply lobed, palm-shaped leaves and delicate, veined pink petals.
**Habitat:** Common throughout deciduous forests during May.
