**Description:** Large ground birds with dark, iridescent feathers and a featherless head that changes color with the bird’s mood.
**Size & Weight:** Length of 3–4 feet. Males weigh 16–24 lbs; females weigh 8–12 lbs.
**Sexual Dimorphism:** Males (toms) are larger with iridescent plumage and a "beard." Females (hens) are duller for nesting camouflage.
**Habitat:** Found in mixed forests and clearings; they roost in high treetops at night.
