Species Description

**Description:** Large, robust spiders with excellent eyesight. They are usually brown or gray with striped markings for camouflage in leaf litter.
**Size:** Body length up to 1.4 inches; leg span can be much larger.
**Sexual Dimorphism:** Females are larger than males.
**Behavior:** Active hunters that roam the forest floor rather than spinning webs. Mothers carry their spiderlings on their backs for several weeks.
**Habitat:** Found in leaf litter and grassy openings; mostly nocturnal.
