Species Description
**Description:** A small, colorful duck of wooded wetlands; males have a striking green crested head and white patterns.
**Size & Weight:** 19–21 inches long. Weighs 1.2–1.8 lbs.
**Sexual Dimorphism:** Extreme. Males are brightly patterned; females are a mottled gray-brown with a white eye-ring.
**Conservation:** Common in managed wetlands and beaver ponds.
**Habitat:** Quiet backwaters, oxbow lakes, and wooded river banks.
