Species Description
**Description:** A small, terrestrial frog recognized by a dark "Lone Ranger" mask and tan-to-rusty brown coloration.
**Size:** 1.5–2.75 inches long.
**Sexual Dimorphism:** Females are larger and more colorful; breeding males have enlarged pads on their thumbs.
**Life Cycle:** They are the first to sing in spring. Tadpoles are dark with high tail fins.
**Behavior:** They can survive being frozen solid in winter by producing natural glucose "antifreeze."
