Woodland Jumping Mouse

Species Description
**Description:** A beautiful rodent with a bright orange-gold coat, white underparts, and a long tail with a distinct white tip.
**Size & Weight:** 8–10 inches long (including tail). Weighs 0.6–1 oz.
**Behavior:** Extremely agile; they can leap up to 10 feet in a single bound using their long back legs. They hibernate deeply during the winter.
**Identification:** Look for the bright golden sides and the white-tipped tail which separates them from the Meadow Jumping Mouse.
**Habitat:** Moist forests and shrubby areas near streams.
